Our 2 GIRLS!

On Friday, Tara and I started my registries at Babies R Us and Target.  It was harder than I thought it would be because we didn't know the babies' genders.  So after some thought and some pushing from certain friends, I decided to start looking into going in for an elective ultrasound.  There are a ton of 3D, 4D ultrasound companies around the Atlanta area. We didn't want to break the bank on the ultrasound, but I told myself if we could find a place that had an open appointment on Saturday at an affordable price we would just do it.  I happened to get a postcard in the mail this week from Stork Vision with a coupon.  You know me, I love a good deal, and they (unlike most places) didn't charge extra for twins. So I called a few places and also called Stork and they happened to have an open appointment so we scheduled it.  It was a wonderful experience and the babies were very active, thanks to some sugary Capri Sun that was provided! The ultrasound tech, Shannan, was super nice and did a wonderful job.  We walked away with pictures, a CD of pictures (some in 3D and one in 4D!) and also a DVD of the entire ultrasound, but most importantly we now know that we are having 2 GIRLS! Here are a few of the pictures-

The Genders Remain a Mystery

We went to the doctor for blood work and an ultrasound today.  Unfortunately, the babies want us to know that we are NOT in control anymore!  One baby kept his/her legs crossed, and the other baby was shy. But the babies looked healthy so that's really all that's important! We also got some disappointing news when our OBGYN, who I really like and trust, told us that she is moving to Orlando in August.  Bummer!  She is planning on sitting down with me to discuss doctors who are willing to meet our birthing plans, which I know will be helpful.
Our next appointment will be in two weeks with a specialist for a high risk ultrasound.  We are thinking about doing a 3D ultrasound before then. We'll see!

Week 18

Week 18

How far along? 18 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain: 6 pounds, as you can see my belly is really starting to grow!
Maternity clothes? No, still wearing stretchy waistbands and dresses.
Sleep: Uggh, after a few rough nights I decided I needed to go to the chiropractor.  I had some adjustments done and was super sore, and I'm still not sleeping well.  I am going again this week to see if I can get some relief.
Best moment this week: The babies got their first gifts (see below) Thank you Christina, Ben, & Bennett and Susan! Also, getting to see Kate who gave me my shower invitation (see below)
Miss Anything?  Sleeping through the night, I guess this is the best way to prepare me for the next several years!
Movement:  Lots of little kicks especially when I’m sitting down.
Food cravings:  Anything and everything!  I have been eating so much, no wonder I have gained weight!
Symptoms:  Just feeling fat
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, at least I don’t think I’ve been as moody this past week.
Looking forward to:  Finding out the genders of the babies on Thursday, I’m hoping everyone cooperates! Then starting the babies’ registry with Tara’s help!

Babies' first gifts! Blankets from Susan and hats from the Hjalmers
Love these shower invites!

Week 17

We are scheduled for an ultrasound next week to see the babies, and hopefully we will also find out the genders (fingers crossed).  Originally we were not going to find out the sex, however, once we saw two babies, we decided we needed to know and plan ahead.  I am awfully excited and anxious for someone who was planning to wait until we were in delivery room to find out! So I've been looking at old wife's tales, just to see what might be inside.  I haven't found twin specific gender predictions, and I'm just picking ones that I've heard other people mention.  For the record, John thinks I'm crazy!  This is what I've come up with-

Old Wives’ Tale Gender Predictions
Heartbeats- Last visit one was 161 and the other was 135
Prediction- Boy & Girl
Cravings- Salty followed by sweet
Prediction- Boy & Girl
Morning Sickness- NONE!
Prediction- Boy(s)
Sleep on which side- Both, but back the most
Prediction- ?
Headaches- Yes, but maybe allergy related
Prediction- Boy(s) (?)
Chinese Gender chart- Odd number
Prediction- Boy(s)
Acne- Nope
Prediction- Boy(s)
Shape of Mom’s Face- Less full now than before pregnancy
Prediction- Boy(s)
Ring test- John won’t do it!
Prediction- ?
Dreams- Opposite gender of the dream

Week 16

Week 16
Now I have more time and a little bit more energy too, so hopefully I will update the blog more often. As I was browsing Pinterest I found a cute blog, and I saw these fun questions and decided to borrow them.  Hope you enjoy a peek inside the pregnancy!

How far along?  Technically 15 weeks 6 days.  I didn't realize that my actual due date is November 18, I thought it was November 15! Oops!
Total weight gain:  2(ish) pounds, I lost weight in my first trimester so it sounds weird to say this, but I'm glad I'm gaining now.
Maternity clothes? Nope, sticking with comfortable dresses and stretchy pants
Sleep: It depends on the night.  Lately, I am having troubles falling back asleep once I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.
Best moment this week:  Announcing the pregnancy on Facebook for the world to see on our anniversary.  There were so many sweet comments.
Miss Anything?  Sleeping on my stomach.  I got a Snoogle pregnancy pillow to help with sleeping on my side, and most nights it works well, but I wake up on my back  A LOT.
Movement:  I think I am feeling the babies' move.  It feels like little flutters at this point.
Food cravings:  2 strange foods (at least for me!)- fried pickles, so stereotypical and not a food I would normally eat! I talked John into going to Texas Roadhouse just because that was the only place I could think of that had them, And coke slushies, I don't drink sodas so this is so strange and other slushie flavors (especially cherry) don't have the same appeal. I tried to drink a caffeine free Diet Coke, and that didn't do the trick.  So I stopped at RaceTrac on my way home from work and got a small.  It wasn't really that great, but I wanted one again the next day!?!
Symptoms:  Tired, not nearly as tired as I have been. Moody and hormonal for sure, sorry John!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Meat, in general, but I'm forcing myself to eat it for protein, but leftover meat especially makes me want to throw up!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Depends on the day so I would have to say moody!
Looking forward to: Sleeping in this week, school's out for summer!!!
